About Impressions on Timber

My business started with some beaten down, rotted wooden holiday yard art. Every year I would put up my Grandma’s Christmas lights and outdoor wooden yard art. It was a set with Santa and cows playing the fiddle. She loved it, but every year it was fading and disintegrating. For 3 years I told her I was not going to put it out because it was not going to make it through the holiday season. Every time she would tell me, “If you throw it away YOU have to make me a new one!” Come 2013, there I was at Christmas with nothing to put out. All the grandchildren were into the movie Monsters Inc. (as well as Grandma) so I decided to make her something with that theme. The neighborhood loved it and all the requests for yard art displays started coming in.

This is my grandma. She was my inspiration, best friend, and was always by my side. She has inspired me to be the best person I can, to not only strive for my goals but to accomplish them.

It began as a fun hobby to make some extra money, before officially growing into Impressions on Timber a couple years later. I was creating custom yard art and hand painted signs with any kind of wood I could get my hands on. Everything was cut by hand with a router. I loved it! It felt as if I were drawing with a hand saw. In 2019 I got a scroll saw, and after a bit of practice, it really changed the game. My wheels started spinning and I wanted to do all the things. By 2020 I jumped into the laser business soon to realize my small hobby laser was not going to cut it. So I moved up to a larger bed laser and can now cut most of my masterpieces in it. Love it!! Now years later, and a whole lot more tools, I am a full time woodworking artist and sign maker.
